Isn't it the fear of our own mortality? or more specifically- the disconnect between the way we live our everyday lives which is for the most part a denial of our mortality and the truth that we know- that someday all of this will end. the cognitive dissonance created by this contradictory state creates a sense of paranoia which we offload onto external circumstances so as not to confront directly. this then creates a self-perpetuating feedback loop that confirms our paranoid suspicions and keeps us safely out of the much more "damaging" realization that none of these paranoid ideas matter if we're all going to die in the end anyway. it's a gigantic mental distraction from the ultimate truth we would rather avoid at any cost.

we are all always living in the end-times

what's happening now is the collective awakening to this awareness: the living presence of death in our lives.

since death is the only thing that is forever, it is our closest actual "knowing" about God.

So, the majority can only know God by dying.

Paranoid awareness is the beginning of the intimation of the divine that is moving behind (and orchestrating) all things. Because we haven;t integrated an awareness of our mortality, this then becomes malevolent, since we know, in our bodies, that the force behind everything is intimately connected to our annihilation.

Hmmm. Maybe it's the idea that someone , or something will come along and change the way we perceive our existence. Since we have our rules of the universe set at a certain place, we might be very afraid of this changing.

Paranoia could be a result of the awareness that what we are living in a dishonest way. Someone might take away my laws, my grocery store, my money, then what would we do? Live like an animal? I can't do that! I'm a super evolved human monkey creature!

Prior to monotheism, and the worship of Yahweh do you think people lived in the end times?

More honesty equals less paranoid awareness? I'm seeing a correspondence there for myself anyways.

End times or beginning times? Guess that's kind of a cheesy half empty glass thing. Whether it's half empty or half full it still sucks when it gets dumped out

Just listened to Michael Wynn's interview over at Redice creations - a lot of talk about demons and the necronomicon. Gave me the heebyjeebies to be honest. Then I went on to read this article and the bit about vampire cults involved in murder, inspired by the imaginary creatures of Darkness in Lovecraft's work.

This all makes me feel some combination of discomfort and sadness. It's grounding to realize that the imagination can lead people towards this kind of behavior, and it encourages me to orient myself to simple truths. All this talk of demons and archangels is stimulating, but goes so deep... Qi gong and breathwork help me clear out the imagination back to Zero.

Take a deeeeeep breath.
Whenever Im on one of my soon-to-crash trains of thought & can't slow down, using my great imagination for less than constructive purposes (ie paranoid speculation & other deeper 'truths') have to catch it and return my breath to something steady or start having suffer sorta anxiety attack.
Come back down to my original size of head :chillpill:

Sexually neurotic Lovecraft
Can't say that surprises

At the root of my paranoia was always the fear of losing my spirit or connection with God. Like I had thought that it was possible to have my soul leave my body and be somewhat like a zombie.

In the podcast with Patrick, it made me remember a lot about my really peak paranoid times. In those times, I felt and thought that if I did something wrong or said something at the wrong time, I would be stripped of my soul.

Still, sometimes when I've smoked a lot of weed I get thoughts like someone is leeching off my spirit or someone is embedding thoughts and feelings.
